Woman arrested after Peru drug smuggling
A woman and two children were detained in Peru after the trio allegedly swallowed capsules of cocaine and attempted to board an aeroplane to Argentina, a police official said.
Police Gen Miguel Hidalgo, director of the country’s anti-drug unit, said that the three were questioned at Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport on Saturday night, and taken to a nearby hospital, where they expelled capsules of cocaine.
Police declined to give the children’s ages until an official report is completed, but radio reports suggested the children were aged 15 and 17, and travelling with their 47-year-old mother.
