Gunman kills one, injures two at Finnish school

At least three people were shot, one fatally, at a school in southern Finland today.

A local newspaper initially reported three people were killed, but later said only one of the victims had died.

Police confirmed there was a shooting at a school in Tuusula 30 miles north of the capital Helsinki but declined to give details.

"There has been a shooting, but we can't say anything more at this stage," a spokesman said.

"Ambulances and police cars are on standby."

A Finnish news agency reported that an 18-year-old man shot three people at the Jokela high school and also fired on police.

It said the building was surrounded by police with the gunman inside.
