Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki pledged today to work with his country’s neighbours to fight terrorism, in remarks addressing US and Turkish demands for help in stopping attacks by Kurdish rebels.

Speaking at the opening of a major international meeting on Iraq, he said that “Iraq should not be a base for attacks against neighbours. We will co-operate with our neighbours in defeating this threat”.
