One of 83 carriages from two derailed trains leaked a powerful acid, releasing a vapour cloud that closed schools and forced hundreds of residents in Minnesota to evacuate.

More than 350 people were evacuated from the path of the plume of hydrochloric acid vapour for about 12 hours yesterday, said Clara City administrator Sara Folsted. Nobody was hurt.
