Turkey seeks Kurd offensive

Turkey’s parliament is expected to agree that the government can launch a cross-border attack on Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq over the next year.

The threat of an invasion has sent oil prices soaring and spurred international calls for restraint and Iraq has urged Turkey not to send troops across the border to pursue the separatist Kurds in mountain hideouts.
