Campbell resigns as UK Liberal Democrats leader

Sir Menzies Campbell has resigned as leader of the Liberal Democrats in the UK, party president Simon Hughes said.

Mr Hughes said in a statement: "Ming Campbell has this evening submitted his resignation as the Leader of the Liberal Democrats with immediate effect.
