Blair set for debut appearance at Mideast peace talks

Former prime minister Tony Blair makes his first appearance as Mideast envoy in Portugal today, with international diplomats gathering to discuss ways to breath life into long-stalled peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

The high-level meeting will be the first since the hard-line Islamic group Hamas wrested control of the Gaza Strip from the more moderate Fatah last month.
