A British soldier serving in Kosovo was killed in a road accident while on holiday at a resort in northern Greece, police said today.

A British soldier serving in Kosovo was killed in a road accident while on holiday at a resort in northern Greece, police said today.

Police said Brett Walmsley, 25, from Darwen, Lancashire, was killed in Greece’s Halkidiki region after being hit by a car while crossing a road. The driver did not stop to assist the soldier.

Greek authorities did not have information on the Walmsley’s rank or regiment.

Soldiers serving at an international force in Kosovo frequently visit northern Greece for holidays.
