Woman accused of murdering two teen daughters

A 39-year-old woman will today appear in court charged with murdering her two teenage daughters, police say.

Rekha Kumari-Baker, of Cambridgeshire in England, was due before magistrates, accused of killing Davina Baker, 16 and Jasmine Baker, 13.

The girls were found dead at their mother’s home early on Wednesday.

Post mortem tests showed that both had suffered multiple stab wounds, police said.

Detectives had seized a “number of items” in their search for a murder weapon.

Kumari-Baker was charged late last night after being questioned for more than two days.

Jasmine, a pupil at Cottenham Village College near Cambridge, lived with her mother. Davina, who was sitting GSCE examinations and was a student at Cambridge Regional College, lived with her father, David Baker, in Cambridge.

Mr Baker and his wife were estranged and are thought to have separated about three years ago.
