Peres leads in Israel presidential elections

Shimon Peres leads by a wide margin after first round of presidential voting in Israel today, giving him the edge in the second round to take place this afternoon.

In the first round of balloting, none of the three candidates collected the necessary 61 votes from the 120 politicians.
