Vanhanen declares victory in Finland

Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen’s Centre Party won Finland’s Parliamentary election by a razor-thin margin ahead of the opposition Conservatives tonight.

“We did it,” Vanhanen told jubilant supporters after official results with 99% of votes counted showed Centre would win 51 seats in the 200-member Parliament, one more than the Conservatives.
