Suspicious package investigated in Paris

A Canadian Embassy employee in Paris fell ill today shortly after a suspicious package arrived in the mail, French police said.

Paris’ police headquarters said officials were investigating whether the package might have contained harmful radioactive, biological or chemical materials.

The avenue where the embassy is located was closed off to traffic, and the embassy did not answer telephone calls.

Men in white protective jump-suits and gas masks were seen entering the building.

France’s Interior Ministry declined to comment about the incident.
