Suicide bomber kills 30

A suicide truck bomber slammed into a crowd of police today near Tikrit, killing at least 30 people and wounding 50, police said.

The blast occurred as police were lining up for duty at the gate of the Adwar police station, Capt. Abdel-Samad Mohammed said, giving the casualty toll.

The bomber drove a small truck with explosives covered by hay straight into the crowd, which apparently was not protected by any barriers or other protective measures, police said.
