European Union foreign ministers today looked at ways to bolster the Middle East peace process and were to push Israeli and Palestinian leaders to live up to commitments to return to the negotiating table.

In Brussels, German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said the EU was looking at ways it and others including the United States and the UN “can support contacts” between Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas.
