€2.9m of cocaine found in bananas
Four men have been arrested on suspicion of attempting to smuggle 60 kilos of cocaine hidden inside 8,000 bananas, Dutch prosecutors said today.
The cocaine was detected by Customs sniffer dogs in the port of Rotterdam on December 13, packed carefully into narrow tubes which were then inserted into the bananas. The four suspects were arrested on December 18 when they tried to pick up the fruit and the drugs.
