Taiwan’s wheelchair-bound first lady was rushed to hospital early today after she passed out during the first session of her fraud and forgery trial.

Television pictures showed Wu Shu-chen, 54, being carried out of the Taipei court by an unidentified woman and loaded into an ambulance waiting outside.
