The leaders of Germany and France underlined their support today for the partial suspension of Turkey’s European Union membership negotiations.

A proposal from the EU commission to suspend some aspects of Turkey’s membership talks is a “good basis” for discussions, Merkel said after talks with French President Jacques Chirac and Polish President Lech Kaczynski.
