The Russian authorities have been asked to provide “all necessary co-operation” with the investigation into the death of Alexander Litvinenko, British Home Secretary John Reid said today.

In an emergency statement to MPs, Mr Reid said the Russian ambassador was called to the Foreign Office on Friday – the day after Mr Litvinenko, a former Russian spy, died from radiation poisoning.
