I'm not America's man, says Iraqi PM

The Iraqi prime minister and US president today agreed to speed up the hand-over of full control of Iraq’s army to the government in a bid to stem a deepening rift.

The two leaders spoke for nearly an hour today after Nouri Maliki declared he was a friend but not “America’s man” in Iraq, signalling a growing rift between Washington and the Iraqi leader.
