Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov today said a draft UN Security Council resolution proposed by European nations to impose sanctions on Iran did not match existing agreements between major powers, news agencies reported.

Russia, a veto-wielding permanent member of the council which has strong commercial ties with Tehran, has consistently argued against imposing harsh sanctions on Iran over its nuclear programme.
