Palestinian police block roads in protest over unpaid wages

Palestinian security forces blocked main Gaza Strip road junctions today, burning tyres and snarling traffic in protest at the Hamas government’s inability to pay their salaries.

The unrest by forces loyal to Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah Party raised tensions throughout Gaza, where a Fatah activist was killed earlier today in a gunbattle between Fatah security branches and the rival Hamas militia.
