Mother-in-law moves in with Bill and Hillary

Former US president Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary have taken her elderly mother into their Washington home to look after her.

Mrs Clinton said that 87-year-old Dorothy Rodham had moved in, as she spoke to a group of Long Island homeowners, the New York Times reported.

A spokeswoman confirmed that she joined her daughter and son-in-law in the spring so she could have extra support.

“She’s doing really well,” Jennifer Hanley told the newspaper.

New York Senator Mrs Clinton mentioned her mother when a woman in the group said she was helping pay bills for her aged parents.

“We just moved my 87-year-old mother in to live with us,” Mrs Clinton said.

“Your parents are blessed to have family that cares about them.”

Mrs Rodham appeared in a film played before Bill Clinton’s 1996 acceptance speech at the Democratic convention.

“Everybody knows there is only one person in the world who can really tell the truth about a man, and that’s his mother-in-law,” she said.
