Annan: EU contribution allows for credible Lebanon force

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said today that contributions by EU member states to an expanded UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon will allow the world body to deploy a “credible” force to the region.

“Europe is providing the backbone of the force,” Annan said after meeting with EU foreign ministers in Brussels.
