Italian minister backs Gaza peace force

An international force should be sent to the Gaza Strip if the deployment of United Nations troops on the Israel-Lebanon border is successful, Italy’s foreign minister said today.

“The idea of sending UN troops to the Gaza Strip is currently being aired,” Massimo D’Alema told the Israeli Haaretz daily in an interview.
