Security guards at Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert’s office detected a “suspicious substance” today in the shoes of an Arab man trying to enter the building, a spokeswoman said.

Security guards at Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert’s office detected a “suspicious substance” today in the shoes of an Arab man trying to enter the building, a spokeswoman said.

Guards took the shoes and carried out a controlled explosion. Four loud booms were heard. Police announced over loudspeakers that visitors were not allowed to leave the building for the time being.
