Bangladesh politician killed in bombing
Unidentified assailants threw at least three bombs in eastern Bangladesh, killing an opposition party activist and wounding a ruling party member, police said today.
The attacks occurred in Chuadanga district, 150km (95 miles) east of the capital, Dhaka, an area police official said.
Ohidul Islam, 35, a local leader of the main opposition Awami League party, died instantly in the attacks, while an activist from Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party was wounded, the official said.
