A bomb struck a minivan carrying workers to an agricultural truck company in southern Baghdad today, killing six including one woman, police said.

The blast occurred at about 8am (5am Irish time) in Baghdad’s violent southern neighbourhood of Dora.

The neighbourhood, which is a mix of Shiite, Sunni Arabs and Christians, has been the site of daily bombings and shootings in recent weeks.

Gunmen in Dora also shot and wounded a police officer heading to work.
