Four British killed in French crash
A sport utility vehicle driven by a British national veered off a highway in south-west France and crashed into trees, killing four people, including two 10-year-olds.
Four others were seriously injured, police said today.
Eight people from two British families were in the vehicle at the time of the accident late yesterday in Berbiguieres, a town in the Dordogne region, police said.
The four who survived were taken to hospital.
Authorities identified the driver as Keith Bridges, a 50-year-old British national who lives in Berbiguieres. He survived the crash, officials said.
State prosecutors are looking into the accident.
Those killed were identified as Andrew Dyer, 41, and Gabriella Dyer, 10, of Bridgwater, Somerset; Julie-Ann Bridges, 43, and Bethany Bridges, 10.
The injured were identified as Tracey Dyer, 38, Kieran Dyer aged four, and seven-year-old Charlotte Dyer.
