At least eight killed in Baghdad market attack
A car bomb exploded in an outdoor market in eastern Baghdad today, killing at least eight people and wounding 31.
The explosion occurred at 10am local time in the Nahda area of Baghdad, said police Lt. Ahmed Mohammed.
Old furniture, household goods and appliances are sold in the market, would have been busy during the start of the Islamic weekend.
Sgt Sabah Muhsin, a hospital security official, said eight people were killed and 31 had been admitted to hospital with blast injuries.
