Prosecutors start building forensics case against sniper
Prosecutors today began building a forensics case against John Allen Muhammad, as the convicted sniper who is serving as his own attorney in his second trial attempted to demonstrate that little evidence linked him directly to the three-week Washington area sniping spree in October 2002.
Testimony in the trial in Rockville, Maryland, yesterday featured dramatic testimony from an emergency room physician who administered CPR to Perm Kaman Walker moments after the cab driver was shot on October 3, 2002.
As Walkerâs family wept, emergency room physician Caroline Narrow testified that she assured him he would be OK, even though she realised his chances of survival were slim.
Walker was one of four sniper killing victims in Montgomery County as the Maryland region realised that an unknown marksman was targeting people at random.
Narrow said she had heard âa loud bangâ and then Walker âwalked toward my car. He said, âCall an ambulance,â and he collapsed.â
Muhammad was previously convicted for a sniper killing in Virginia and is on trial for six shootings in Maryland.
