Fourteen miners were killed when gas caught fire at an illegal coal pit in south-west China.

The accident occurred late yesterday in Weining county of Guizhou province during a so-called “gas deflagration” burning procedure, which produces a significant amount of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and intense heat, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.
