An explosion ripped through a state-run bus in the northern Indian state of Punjab today, injuring 15 passengers.

Twelve of the injured were admitted to hospital in Jullundur, a key city in Punjab, in a serious condition, said Ishwar Singh, senior superintendent of police.

They mostly suffered burn injuries as the bus caught fire after the blast, Singh said.
