Al-Jazeera’s Cairo bureau chief has been released on bail of 10,000 Egyptian pounds (€1,400) after being charged with propagating false news, the TV station said tonight.

“I’m fine but I have had hardly any sleep for the past 40 hours,” Hussein Abdel Ghani told viewers in a phone interview with an Al-Jazeera anchorwoman in Qatar.

Abdel Ghani was detained on Wednesday evening in Dahab, the Sinai resort struck by three bombs on Monday that killed 21 people and wounded another 85, including two Britons.
