Police fired on stone-throwing protesters in the Nepalese resort town of Pokhara today, wounding two people just kilometres from where King Gyanendra was on holiday, police said.

The shooting was latest by security forces since pro-democracy protests began on Thursday to pressure Gyanendra to relinquish his control over this Himalayan nation.
