European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana today said the 25-nation bloc should consider sanctions against Iran, including a visa ban on nuclear officials, because of Tehran’s refusal to co-operate with the United Nations on its nuclear programme.

European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana today said the 25-nation bloc should consider sanctions against Iran, including a visa ban on nuclear officials, because of Tehran’s refusal to co-operate with the United Nations on its nuclear programme.

“We have to begin thinking about that possibility,” Solana said at an EU foreign ministers meeting in Luxembourg, which was to debate whether the EU should get tougher with Iran over its nuclear plan, which the West fears is being used to build nuclear weapons.
