Suspected Maoist militants triggered an explosion near a truck jammed with passengers today in central India, killing 23 people.

A police official said a further 30 people were injured in the attack.

The blast occurred near the town of Darphaguda in rural Chhattisgarh state, said Girdhari Naik, a state inspector general of police.
