Austrian school evacuated after roof collapse
About 100 children where evacuated from a school in an Austrian village today after parts of the building’s roof caved in.
No one was hurt in the incident, which took place in the village of Kopfing in north-western Austria.
There was about one metre of snow on the roof when it caved in, said local policeman Karl Hartinger.
The building was partly evacuated and classes were continuing on the building’s first floor, he said.
The exact cause of the incident remains unclear but experts are looking into the matter.
Meanwhile, in the province of Salzburg, the roof of a factory collapsed this morning. The building was evacuated in time and no one was injured, officials said.
Last month, 15 people were killed when the snow-covered roof of an ice rink collapsed in the Bavarian town of Bad Reichenhall.
