UN confirms bird flu death in Iraq

A United Nations official today said that an Iraqi girl who died earlier this month in Kurdistan was a victim of the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu.

The official said testing done at a US Navy laboratory in Cairo confirmed the first known case of the deadly virus in Iraq.
