Nairobi building collapse kills at least 11
Kenyan rescuers and soldiers cut through layers of concrete slab early today to free an unknown number of construction workers still trapped after a building collapsed in central Nairobi, killing at least 11 and injuring dozens.
Workers had struggled throughout the night to reach survivors using sledge hammers, metal-cutters and crowbars while shouting encouragement through drainage pipes and holes in the rubble.
