Israeli cabinet convenes for special session

Acting Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert chaired a special cabinet session today, as Ariel Sharon fought for his life in a nearby hospital.

The session was convened to send a message of stability and continuity to the Israeli people, one government minister said.
