Employment and debt on Chirac's 'road map'

President Jacques Chirac today laid out his “road map” for 2006, calling on his Cabinet to make hiring easier in France and to reduce the state’s ballooning debt.

In a New Year address to ministers in what could be his last full year in power, Chirac urged broader and faster action from the centre-right government.
