Three killed as gas blast rips through flats

At least three people were killed and five injured when an explosion and fire tore through a three-storey block of flats in New Jersey after building workers hit a gas pipe.

Search teams found two bodies at the flats in Bergenfield, six miles north west of New York City, yesterday afternoon. A third was found hours later, mayor Richard Bohan said.
