Death blaze Schiphol Airport prison to be closed

The Dutch municipality that oversees the site where 11 immigrants died in an airport prison fire will immediately close the complex, against the wishes of the government.

Insistence by Dutch Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner that the building met fire regulations “has damaged our confidence in the way the ministry handles safety”, said mayor Fons Hertog.
