An Australian airliner caught fire mid-air and made an emergency landing at the international airport in Kolkata, India, today. All passengers and crew were safe.

The Qantas Airways flight was on its way from Singapore to London when the pilot noticed smoke billowing out of the aircraft’s engine, Rediff news service said.

The aircraft made an emergency landing at Kolkata and all passengers were evacuated. All 576 passengers, including crew members, on board the aircraft were safe, Rediff said.
