Saab to recall nearly 300,000 cars worldwide
Saab plans to recall almost 300,000 cars worldwide because of a problem with the ignition system, a Swedish newspaper reported today.
The recall would cover petrol-engine 9-3 and 9-5 models made in 2000, 2001, and 2002, the daily Goteborgs-Posten reported.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found problems in the ignition system that can lead to overheating, a spokesman for General Motors, which owns Saab, told the paper, adding that the problem had not caused any injuries.
A total of 287,987 cars will be recalled, costing Saab more than 600 million kronor (€64m).
