Suicide bomber's body examined after Afgahn death blast
Experts were trying to identify the body of a suicide attacker who detonated a bomb outside an Afghan army training centre in Kabul, killing nine people and wounding 28, Afghanistan’s defence minister said today.
A uniformed man riding a motorbike set off the blast yesterday as soldiers were waiting to take buses home.
A purported Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the attack, which broke 10 days of relative calm after landmark parliamentary elections and underscored the terrorist threat still facing Afghanistan as it moves slowly toward democracy.
Defence Minister Rahim Wardak said Afghan experts were trying to identify the dismembered body of the attacker.
He blamed “enemies of peace and stability in this country” for the bombing, but was sceptical of the Taliban claim.
“The Taliban tell lies. Let’s wait for the investigation to be complete,” he said.
