Europe hopes that Iran might allow nuclear supervision

Iran may offer to put its nuclear activities under broader international supervision when its president addresses the UN General Assembly this weekend, European officials and diplomats have said.

The officials were guarded about the possibility that the new Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad might announce a new freeze on uranium conversion today just weeks after Tehran resumed the practice – and sparked the present crisis over its atomic program.
