Clinton demands action on tsunami early-warning system

Tourism in Thailand and the Maldives will never fully recover from theDecember 26 tsunami unless nations in the region set up an early warning system against future disasters, former US president Bill Clinton told the United Nations.

Clinton, the special UN envoy for tsunami recovery, said the attention given to Sri Lanka and Indonesia after the devastation could help their tourism economies in the long run, but only if travellers felt safe.
