Inquests opened on two more terror victims

Two further inquests opened today into the deaths of victims killed in last week’s London bombings.

Inner North London coroner Dr Andrew Reid formally opened the inquest into the death of dental technician Mihaela Otto, 46, known as Michelle, of Mill Hill, north London.

Mr Reid said that Ms Otto died on July 7 and gave the place of death as Russell Square – site of one of last Thursday’s Tube bombings.

The coroner, sitting at St Pancras coroner’s court in central London, also opened the inquest into the death of Anthony Fatayi-Williams, 26, an oil executive from Hendon, north-west London.

Mr Reid said Mr Fatayi-Williams died on July 7 in the bus bombing at Tavistock Square. In the days after his death his mother Marie Fatayi-Williams flew from Nigeria in an attempt to find information about her missing son.

She said her “heart had been maimed by the atrocity”.

Both of today’s victims were identified by dental records, the hearing was told.

Mr Reid adjourned both inquests for further investigations and expressed his sympathies to both families.

Today’s openings mean that 10 people have so far been formally identified as dying in the four blasts a week after they occurred.

The coroner’s court today said that further inquests would be opened tomorrow at St Pancras coroner’s court but the names of the victims are not presently known.
