Iraqi leader condemns London blasts

Iraq’s parliament speaker tonight condemned the deadly blasts in London, saying his people too “are suffering from such brutal acts”.

“I take this opportunity to express to you the rejection and condemnation of members of the Iraqi National Assembly and the people of my country to these evil acts,” Hajim al-Hassani said in a letter to British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

“My country and people are suffering from such brutal acts that contradict the simplest human values,” al-Hassani said in the letter, distributed by his office.
